Making the choice to purchase a 50cc moped can be a big decision.  If you have decided to get one then you are probably doing so to save money on gas.  Therefore, you will probably be interested to know how much a moped will actually cost you.  The prices can vary widely depending on brands and styles.  There are many kinds to choose from and your preference will influence the cost.  It also will depend on whether you are willing to buy a used one because this can save you a lot of money.

First the style of moped you want to buy will change the price.  If you just need a simple cheap and effective gas moped you will probably want to buy one that is essentially a bike frame with a small engine mounted on it.  There are several makers of these types of bikes.  One brand that makes this style is Mongoose.  A moped of this style will cost from $350 up to around $600.  These are great scooters that get over 100 miles per gallon.  They can be found used for even cheaper.  If you don’t have a lot of extra money to spend and you don’t need space for cargo these are your best option for a scooter.

If you are looking for a more deluxe model you will be paying a bit more.  These are the styles that probably come to mind when you think about a moped.  They resemble a motorcycle much more than a bicycle and have streamlined appearances.  They can usually seat two people and often have a small cargo storage area which is very convenient for groceries and other items you may need to transport.  These models still get at least 80 or 90 miles to the gallon.  If you are looking for this type of 50cc mopeds for sale, you will find that a new one is at least $1000.  They can be as much as $2000 depending on the brand you choose.  They can also be found used however, for much cheaper and still in good condition.
